Pam

There are many managers who do understand what it is like to be in the trenches. And there are many who have forgotten what it is like. There are many constraints put on managers and staff that come from upper management, corporate headquarters and government regulatory agencies. It can be quite a dance to get it right. Each one of us has an important role in our work/company. Thanks for the comment. Blessings, Mary Pat

Mary Pat, You are right on. I’m a retired social worker and wrote a dissertation on management style. I would only add to your comments that many managers already understand and work effectively with those in the trenches, realizing that they are in trenches, too. These effective managers also understand trench time from the perspectives of patients, customers, employees, managers in other positions, and executives. Alas, many managers have a long way to go in understanding self and others. May God protect and bless us all.
